      • No alcohol allowed, due to costs
      • Planning potential future silent auction plus talent show to maybe become campus unions annual tradition.
      • Next meeting TBD

  • Eugene training debrief from Nick Fisher:
  • Went well. Learned how to have conversations with potential members, potential hostile members.

    • CGE, GTFF, SEIU, AFT classified workers (bus drivers)
    • Setting benchmarks, milestones.
    • Power mapping demo from Michael Marchman.
      • Possibly come up for a steward training.
    • Member Organizer Institute:
      • Changing name to “institute”.
      • Will be for 10- or 11-week periods corresponding to academic quarters.
      • More involvement from/reporting to the local
      • No decision yet on how many members from each local can participate.
      • AFT-OR meeting this afternoon, more details pending.
      • Can be a good way to supplement organizing if we combine our staff positions long-term.
      • Sept. 14 application deadline, interviews done by the 28th, and 3-day training Oct 5-7.
      • Kali putting the vote up on Slack, will email out the documents we got from Jess and David Reeves.
    • Membership Blitz:

      • 5 surveys filled
      • 7 total conversations with non-members
      • 2 total rounds of house visits
      • 4 participants
      • Tweak survey, change the order we ask/talk to people – put the survey ask at the end of the conversation, otherwise that’s what they’re thinking about. Also have people put their names at the beginning of the survey instead of the end. Disclaimer – ‘individual responses will be anonymous other than the person aggregating the data – only aggregate data will be used after that’
    • Hustle Campaign:
      • 19 non-members said yes to taking survey
      • 2 said yes to becoming members
      • 2 asked to not be contacted
      • 292 total texted
      • Next time: instead of texting them the link to a survey, ask if we can email them a link to a survey, which not only gets the link on their computer instead of just their phone and also gives us a follow-up.
    • Constitutional Amendments:Please review this document
      • Think about how we conduct/facilitate the conversation at the GMM, but also make sure we have very good explanations in text form for people who aren’t at the GMM.
      • Check the bylaws about requirements for allowing amendments from the floor.
      • Talk about this at our next meeting, plus agenda for the GMM.
      • Maybe have a constitutional convention at a different date.

  • Bargaining:

      • Still no date scheduled for changes
      • A new IRS law has likely made our agreement on parking illegal with pre-tax deductions
        • Alex spoke to new Field Rep. and he said any changes have not been made public or official yet, so we’ll want to proceed with caution and not take OSU at their word until they send us some documents.
        • Follow up with OSU and find out what the new law is. Ask at the LMM (Emory and Alex).
      • Do we need to have a formal presentation of the changes (per NLRB)? Even if no one shows up, have a session where folks can come.

        • Emory – Put these up for votes on Slack.

  • VP of Membership:

      • One of our proposed amendments to the Constitution & Bylaws is to add a ninth officer to our Executive Council. The VP of Membership is proposed as an organizing focused role, which will tag-team a lot of efforts undertaken by the VP of Organizing and also be tasked with helping manage membership data including entering membership info once we receive blue cards.
        • The first officer for this position would be an appointment by the EC, and then in the spring elections would be up to a general membership vote like all other positions.
        • Nicholas Fisher, current steward in Applied Anthropology, has already expressed an interest in being appointed to this role should it be adopted as an amendment.

  • Business Discount Signs: We have CGE signs that read “CGE Discounts Offered Here” to give to the local businesses were our member receive discounts. In furthering our goal of becoming more visible, it is being proposed that we start getting this signs up around town.
  • Downward Dog and Bombs Away have them already

        • Emory will write this up to bring to the steward council.
      • Do we want to send questions to candidate for local City Council too?

  • Corvallis Pride: September 29 (same day as AFT-OR Per Caps Convention) from 10am to 7pm. Do we want to table? I was thinking maybe have info on all three on-campus unions (ask for volunteers?), community stuff we’re involved in, and a couple of coolers of lemonade or something?

    • Emory will ask Fara and Mia from the Pride Caucus

    • Micknai will share materials for recognition
    • Status? Kali is willing to help.

  • First Full EC Meeting: We should spend time at the beginning with each of us describing our officer roles to each other so that we are all on the same page and understand what is expected of each other.

    • I think we also need to go over group agreements about how we should operate in meetings and creating a culture of care, as well as have a longer discussion on why each person wanted to be in the EC, the direction they want CGE to go and their role in that direction as @an EC member.
    • Can we set the date for this yet so we can prepare for all of this beforehand and also get through whatever else will be on the agenda?
