CGE Executive Council Meeting Minutes – May 28, 2013

Email Decisions – None this week.
Bargaining Update – The last session was Thursday the 23rd; next sessions: tomorrow and Thursday both at 9 AM.
Steward Council Appointments – Braden is going to email this list to the elected SC for approval.
Safe Space Sign – Wren talked with some of her colleagues to update the language we’d started. We like its inclusiveness. We’ll add a note that we’re open to input and we’re “Allies In Progress,” since we always have more to learn. Rob will design the layout and then we’ll print it up.
YELL Solidarity Symposium – Eric went up to Vancouver WA last Thursday. He got a lot from the presentations: there was a lot of emphasis on how the labor movement needs to be welcoming to the queer community and strive to engage young people and local communities.
Institutional Boards Update – Wren hasn’t had time to research this yet. She got an email from Gloria at SEIU about a similar discussion at UO. Wren will reach out to GTFF to get their input.
Trivia Night Recap – It was fun! Thomas was a very charismatic host, and the most awesome team won.
Foreign Lang & Lit Update
AFT-OR EC Meeting – It’s this Saturday, June 1st, in Lake Oswego. Katie and Kevin will be there.
Spirit of Solidarity – We’d like to recognize some people and organizations for awards. We’ll probably nominate/discuss/finalize this next week.
