CGE Executive Council Meeting Minutes – September 12, 2012

Email Decisions – Fall GMM will be on Wednesday, October 17, at 5:30 PM at the Senior Center
Campaign Update
Chicago Teachers Union – They’ve gone on strike. A few CGE members sent a photo showing support. We’ll send a letter of support from the EC and encourage members to do something supportive.
Bargaining Update – Danny put together a summary for the CGE planners. Forrest is finalizing some formatting stuff. We’re waiting to hear from OSU about some language.
Brew-Off – Serving may be complicated. We did get approval from our liability insurance company. Also, Danny’s friend is working on the pint glass design. We’ll need LOTS of volunteers for set-up, ID check, payment, and clean-up; we’ll ask for LOTS of volunteers at the Rep meeting. We’re arranging bands too.
Orientations and Fall Calendar – They’ve begun! We’ve attended about 6 so far and picked up some new member cards.
AFT-OR EC Meeting – In Salem at 8 AM on Saturday, September 22. Several people are planning to go.
Feexpert – Wren will be meeting soon with someone who’s interested in being the person who knows all about fees and ASOSU’s SIFC.
Swag – We have lots of items we’d like to purchase and a limited budget with which to purchase them. Time to prioritize!
Timing of Rep Meetings and GMMs – GMMs will begin at 5:30 as usual. Last year Rep meetings went long; we’ll try to start them at 6.
Newman Center and Westmin Gifts – We have a couple cards the EC will sign. We’ll deliver the gift basket soon.
Voter Registration – Someone called to ask if CGE is interested in helping with getting people registered to vote. We’re mostly okay with this, with a few questions.
Parking Permits – We have 40 spots this year! The EC would like to hold a lottery for this again. Angela will get an all-member email sent out tonight.
ASA – We’ve been asked to co-file a complaint with the DOJ. OSU has a lot of ADA violations. This is relevant to CGE because it definitely affects members of our constituency. (We’ll ask Eben about keeping our legal ducks in a row.)
Someone running for local office asked for an audience with us. Wren will call him.
Alta Gracia – Eric will follow up with his contact at this group.
